Spelling Bee

6月16日的Spelling Bee為本屆英語(yǔ)周拉開序幕?；顒?dòng)依舊分為初中組與高中組，題目由易到難，涵蓋日常詞匯、學(xué)科術(shù)語(yǔ)及部分冷門單詞。參賽選手需在規(guī)定時(shí)間內(nèi)準(zhǔn)確拼寫單詞，考驗(yàn)的不僅是拼寫能力，更是詞匯儲(chǔ)備、應(yīng)變能力與心理素質(zhì)的綜合較量。

這場(chǎng)比賽不僅提升了學(xué)生對(duì)英語(yǔ)單詞的掌握能力，也鍛煉了他們?cè)诠妶?chǎng)合表達(dá)自我的勇氣和臨場(chǎng)反應(yīng)能力，為英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)注入了更多挑戰(zhàn)與趣味。

Part 2

Story Relay

6月17日，一場(chǎng)創(chuàng)意無(wú)限的Story Relay故事接龍活動(dòng)精彩上演。參賽學(xué)生被分為多個(gè)小組，在短時(shí)間內(nèi)編寫并講述原創(chuàng)故事。

活動(dòng)中，同學(xué)們發(fā)揮豐富的想象力，用幽默風(fēng)趣的語(yǔ)言、生動(dòng)夸張的表情和肢體動(dòng)作，將一個(gè)個(gè)或奇幻、或溫馨、或緊張刺激的故事呈現(xiàn)在大家眼前。

在這里，語(yǔ)言不僅是交流的工具，更是點(diǎn)燃創(chuàng)造力的火花。學(xué)生們用英語(yǔ)講述屬于他們自己的“平行宇宙”，釋放語(yǔ)言的魅力，構(gòu)建屬于他們的敘事世界。

Part 3·

English Carnival

本屆的英語(yǔ)Carnival由8-9年級(jí)學(xué)生《Harry Potter Act》開啟。學(xué)生們身著霍格沃茨制服，手持魔杖，伴隨熟悉的配樂閃亮登場(chǎng)。他們用流利的英語(yǔ)對(duì)白、生動(dòng)的肢體表演，精彩還原了魔法世界的經(jīng)典橋段，瞬間點(diǎn)燃了全場(chǎng)氣氛，拉開了本屆英語(yǔ)Carnival的序幕。

Dubbing配音活動(dòng)作為英語(yǔ)周的人氣項(xiàng)目之一，再次吸引了大批學(xué)生踴躍參與。選手們?yōu)榻?jīng)典動(dòng)漫和影視片段進(jìn)行現(xiàn)場(chǎng)配音，不僅挑戰(zhàn)角色音色、語(yǔ)調(diào)，還嘗試在語(yǔ)境中再創(chuàng)造，用聲音賦予角色全新生命。

Singing環(huán)節(jié)則是視聽的盛宴，來(lái)自初中、高中的“音樂達(dá)人”們登上舞臺(tái)，演唱英文流行金曲。無(wú)論是獨(dú)唱還是合唱，每位選手都全情投入，在旋律中釋放語(yǔ)言的能量，傳遞音樂與英語(yǔ)融合的獨(dú)特魅力。

在英語(yǔ)周特別環(huán)節(jié)中，F(xiàn)LA中學(xué)部首次嘗試將配音與體育跨界融合——Basketball Casting籃球配音挑戰(zhàn)賽火熱登場(chǎng)！這是一次聲音與運(yùn)動(dòng)的奇妙邂逅，是語(yǔ)言與熱血的雙重碰撞?，F(xiàn)在，就讓我們一起回顧這場(chǎng)“聲”臨其境的青春盛宴！

From June 16th to 18th, FLA Middle School hosted its Second Annual English Week. Building on the classic events from previous years, this year’s English Week brought even more diverse activities and immersive experiences. From Spelling Bee, Story Relay, Acting, Dubbing, Singing, to Basketball Casting, a series of exciting events unfolded across the campus. Students actively participated, diving into the world of language to express, explore, and create—showcasing their impressive English skills and vibrant youthful energy.

Let’s now take a look back at some of the most memorable moments from this linguistic celebration!

On June 17th, the Story Relay took center stage—a showcase of creativity and imagination. Students worked in groups to craft and perform their own original stories within a limited time.

From magical adventures to heartwarming tales, students used expressive language, exaggerated facial expressions, and engaging body language to bring their stories to life.

Here, English was more than just a tool for communication—it became the spark of creativity. Students used the language to build their own imaginative “parallel universes,” exploring the true power of storytelling.

This year’s English Carnival opened with a magical performance of Harry Potter by our talented Grade 8 and 9 students. Dressed in Hogwarts robes and holding wands, they stepped onto the stage to familiar theme music. Through fluent English dialogue and expressive acting, they brilliantly brought the wizarding world to life—immediately igniting the atmosphere and marking a grand opening to the Carnival.

The Dubbing segment, a crowd favorite, once again drew enthusiastic participation. Students selected clips from classic animations and films and re-voiced them live. They challenged themselves to match tones, moods, and timing, creatively reinventing characters with their own interpretations.

The Singing stage turned into an audiovisual feast as student “music stars” from both junior and senior levels performed popular English songs. Whether solo or in groups, every performance was heartfelt and expressive, blending musicality with linguistic skill and creating truly memorable moments.

A special highlight this year was the debut of Basketball Casting—a cross-over event that merged English narration with the thrill of sports. Students selected real basketball game footage and provided live English commentary, mimicking the style of professional sports broadcasters. It was a creative fusion of voice, movement, and passion—bringing language to life on the court!

English: Helping Us Go Further

These three days of English Week were more than just a series of activities—they were a journey of growth and self-discovery. Students gained confidence through participation, experience through practice, and a deep appreciation for the warmth and joy that language can bring.

This wasn’t just a display of English skills—it was a comprehensive enhancement of linguistic competence, creativity, and expressive power. We firmly believe that platforms like this empower every student to go further on their English learning journey.
